In 2002 the tradition of the sculpture symposia was restored and the organization was taken over by the sculptor Roman Richtermoc and architect Martin Samohrd. St. Joseph’s Quarry became the meeting place for local and international sculptors. The baroque statue of this saint, a patron of stonemasons is placed in the woods near the quarry. Sandstone mining was finished here many years ago; however, the quarry provides a splendid natural coulisse to the nascent works of art. In the summer number of concerts and music festivals take place in the quarry. The sculptures made after 2002 are first displayed on the Sculptors’ Embankment in Hradec Králové. After a year they are brought back to Hořice and put on permanent display in the newly established sculpture park at St. Joseph. Both sculpture parks and the quarry are free and open to the public all year long.
